"Is ANR only for couples? I'm single and interested but I'm not sure if this is something single people can pursue, or if it only works within an established relationship."

ANR is not only for couples — but it is inherently relational. Here's what that distinction actually means for someone who's single.

What ANR Requires

ANR requires two people: a nursing partner and a suckling partner. It can't be practised alone. But "two people" doesn't mean "an established romantic couple." It means a willing partner — and that partner can be found.

Plenty of ANR relationships aren't conventional romantic partnerships. Some are between people who meet specifically for ANR and develop a connection that's its own thing — intimate and meaningful, but distinct from traditional dating. Some are long-distance. Some are between people who are also romantically involved elsewhere. ANR has its own relationship logic that doesn't map neatly onto the usual categories.

Single People in the ANR Community

A significant portion of the people on this site are single and actively looking for an ANR partner. Our ANR personals exist precisely for this — people posting honestly about what they're looking for and who they are, hoping to find someone compatible.

Being single isn't a barrier to ANR. It just means the search for a partner comes first. For some people that search is quick; for others it takes time. The community tends to be patient about it because everyone understands that finding the right person — not just any person — is what makes it work.

What to Look For

When you're single and looking for an ANR partner, the qualities that matter most are consistency, emotional maturity, and genuine interest in the relational side of nursing — not just the physical aspect. ANR requires trust and commitment over time. The right person is someone who understands that and is looking for the same thing.

Our guide on how to find an ANR partner covers the practical side of the search, and our piece on red flags to watch for in personals will help you navigate it safely.

The Short Answer

Single is a starting point, not a disqualification. The ANR community is full of single people looking for exactly what you're looking for. You're in the right place.
